PROVIDING A SAFE PLACE TO REST
At our low-barrier overnight and daytime resting spaces, people experiencing homelessness can get rest, a warm meal, clean clothing, and housing-focused supports.
A SNAPSHOT OF OUR 2021 IMPACT
Our low-barrier and flexible approach to resting spaces offers individuals who are experiencing homelessness or have restrictions at emergency shelters a safe place to rest.
At the Resting Space, we have spaces for couples. Not being able to sleep with a significant other is a barrier to accessing services for many individuals sleeping rough. Pets are also allowed at the Resting Space. We recognize that sometimes, all you have on the street to feel safe and secure is the comfort of your furry friend. The Resting Space aims to reduce barriers and support individuals with limited community options. This includes individuals under the influence of substances through our harm reduction approach.
We take a minimal approach to restrictions, acknowledging that anyone can have a bad moment or day. All genders can access the Resting Space, as our values are based in inclusion, equity, and cultural diversity. The Resting Space has been full since we began, and we must turn people away every day.
